2018 Summer Reading Program

Join Hartford Public Library this summer for a spectacular reading program starting June 29th.

Join Us for the Summer Reading Program

Come participate in the Hartford Public Library’s spectacular Summer Reading Program.

Libraries RockEach day of the week has a different activity! Each Monday we will host a fun craft drop-in from 1pm-3pm. All children may make different crafts each Monday to take home. All supplies will be provided. Tuesday is our Lego Challenge day with the exception of July 24th when we will sponsor Nerf Games.

Join us each Wednesday for a different program from music to live animals. Some days have the same program at two different times. Thursday is our “Book-to-Movie” day. You can enjoy a free movie based on a book in the library such as “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”.

The library will once again have book bucks. What are book bucks you ask? They are a point system for reading. Every child who is “read-to-me” age receives one book buck for every 20 pages someone has read to them. Children who are independent readers receive one book buck for every 40 pages read. This summer we will include eBooks read through an electronic device through Hoopla.com. Information on access to hoopla.com is available at the library. All book bucks may be spent on items in the “Readers Prize Room”.

The final Summer Reading Program day is Thursday, July 26th. There will be a Tidal Wave Slide and Pool along with an inflatable Tropical Island 5-in-1 combo. Picnic lunch will be provided for free. All Summer Reading Awards for most pages read will be awarded.

Summer will continue in August with the Monday Drop-in craft activities from 2pm to 4pm; Tuesday Lego Challenge from 2pm to 4pm and Wednesday movies @2pm with free popcorn.
