The Hartford Public Library will host a Horror Story Writing Contest from September 8th - October 1st.

Scary Stories to Tell
Group #1 – Ages 11 to 14
Group #2 – Ages 15 to 28
Stories can be suspense, horror, gothic, paranormal or supernatural
- Must be original story
- Must be types and 1,000 words or less
- Must have name, address, phone, age and school on front page
- Hartford Students Only
Submissions begin September 8, 2026
All entries are due by Oct. 1, 2026
Prizes awarded in each group: Amazon Gift Card
1st Place - $75
2nd Place - $25
3rd Place - $15
